Our History and awards
The Public Relations Agency “A.W.Olsen & Partners” was founded in 2005 and united young and ambitious maximalists, who were focused only on achieving excellent results. Each of us already had experience in the field of communication, therefore, after joining, we were able to find our niche, purposefully and correctly working both with Latvian and Russian audiences, combining very different communication tools. Since 2007 our agency has dealt with the Baltics project. Since 2008 a representative of the agency has been a member of the board of the Latvian Association of Public Relations Professionals. Since 2009 the agency implements the charity campaign "Butterfly Effect", using communication tools in order to help the orphans to make decisions in relation to their future career and life goals. In 2010, based on the questionnaire results conducted among the largest international and Latvian companies by the web-portal www.7guru.lv, “A.W.Olsen & Partners” was included in the list of the ten most recognised and recommended PR agencies in Latvia. In 2011 the agency was awarded with first prize in the international communication competition Baltic PR Awards in the category "Public Affairs" for the lobbying campaign "Pharmacies Ownership Right". In 2012 the agency began working on global projects, coordinating communication in social media in Europe, Latin America and Middle East. In 2013, the Latvian Association of PR professionals awarded the agency’s partner for the development of the public relations. In 2014, the Agency expanded its staff and moved to a new spacious office in the center of Riga. Who is Olsen?
“A word – no matter whether uttered or written, accompanies us through the centuries. It is older than diamond and more precious than gold. We present a word – the word represents You!” Alexander Williard Olsen once said this when describing the work of public affairs ideologists, which was a term applied to public relations professionals at the time. It is not important who his predecessors were and where he came from, or what kind of education he obtained, or which sports team he supported. It is of even less significance that the precise information of his birth remains unknown. However, it is deeply significant that Alexander Williard Olsen has won his place in the history of public relations in Latvia forever.The birth of the first Republic of Latvia and its comparatively short existence was the time when any courageous, laborious and resourceful countryman could achieve fame and fortune and win the respect of society. It was the time when world famous brands such as “Minox”, “VEF”, “Erenpreis” and "Ķuze” were born.
Alexander Williard Olsen was an ordinary person but his way of thinking, which was well ahead of the times, surprised many people. It must be admitted – not without reason, as the readers of the newspapers “Atpūta”, “Jaunākās Ziņas”, “Rīts” and “Tēvijas Sargs” were itching to learn news about the success of joint-stock companies such as “Vairogs”, “Straume” and “Krājbanka”. And, like nowadays, people were keen to take a peep into the private lives of celebrities and to intrude on their privacy in the newspaper columns.
“Be honest with yourself and others! Say only the things you want others to say about You! Defend only what you believe in!” This was Alexander Williard Olsen’s philosophy. And it enabled him to create values we cherish even nowadays and use them as a stable basis of our communications agency.
