27 countries, 10 various themes of posters in 34 languages, target-audience- 375 million people, 30 901 informative posters, 395 780 special pens, 60 huge 3D installations in 66 cities, 1 357 057 postcards, more than 35 interactive multimedia spaces in 66 cities, 85 500 seconds of free broadcasting in televisions of all EU countries, 128 events, adapted radio advertisements in 29 languages, 55 000 Facebook fans- these are the elements of the biggest marketing campaign in the entire EU history which idea was quite simple- want it or not but Europe influences your everyday life. The aim of the campaign was- to encourage EU citizens to take part in European Parliament elections that in Latvia took place on June 6, 2009.
How open should our borders be? How should we react to the financial crisis?
How food industry should be arranged? The answers to these questions are decided in European level, with the active participation of the European Parliament. When using your vote you can resolve the very substantial issues that influence your future. For the first time within these campaign a special emphasis was put on the information and education of young people therefore for the realisation of the campaign such communication canals as Facebook was involved,Youtube.com, where added videos have been watched more than 302 375 times.
Latvian audience especially liked the huge 3D installations in the format of frozen chickens which were installed in Riga and Jelgava, but inhabitants of Liepāja had an installation that was devoted to the production and use of alternative energy. In Riga, Vērmanes garden everyone had the chance to express their views in so called interactive “The space of choice”, accordingly later these
reports were demonstrated in Brussels on huge television screens, and also these materials were used in television, radio and press advertisements, as well as in informative posters.
In Latvia the campaign performed by “„Sholz & Friends Riga” / „A.W. Olsen & Partners”, which is „Sholz & Friends” network members. Scholz & Friends is represented in 33 countries and is one of the Europe’s leading networks of creative communications. Calling themselves as “the orchestra of ideas” a group of agencies offer all types of communication tools, ranging from advertising in the classical sense, public relations, online and dialogue marketing and even to organising events and design.
