Social networks, which will soon force to talk about themselves
Social media has become a part of our everyday life. Company profile on Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Draugiem.lv and Instagram.com - this is not the know-how, but simply respect for good manners. If you ask, everyone will say that social networks are a discovered land with no more hidden corners.
However, there is terra nova in the sea of profiles and networks: Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com. At first glance it seems that these two social networks are popular only in Russia and are not appropriate for Latvia, but this is not true. Can you imagine that the site Odnoklassniki.ru is more popular among Latvians than Instagram.com, and the number of its Latvian audience is 10% more than Twitter.com? Vk.com which at first glance seems to be a Russian version of Facebook.com, actually has a very different specificity of communication, and therefore popular among Russians more than Facebook.com.
If anyone doubts whether to arrange the enterprise’s communication in these social networks, the answer is simple - you need, and here's why: Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com are not only the key to the Russian audience, who could increase the number of already existing customers, but also an additional "channel of communication" with the Russians in Latvia. In addition, an account on these sites can be a complementary form of communication on Facebook.com, Twitter.com, and others, as well as the main form of communication with the audience.
There is no doubt that the enterprise can have both - independent and supplementary accounts on Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com. Especially if your target audience is the townspeople, because the Russian-speaking population mainly lives in cities, while the Latvian-speaking prefers the countryside. 80.6% of the Latvian audience in Vk.com consists of citizens, while the audience of Draugiem.lv, for example only 58.1%.
These networks should be paid special attention also in case if you are interested in the audience of 15 and 29 years old, because they prefer Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com.
The form of communication in Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com is like nothing on Earth. Audience in these networks are spoiled and jaded, it is not easy to surprise them. Today in Latvia a master class in a social network is something fresh and unprecedented while in Russian Odnoklassniki.ru and Vk.com it is yesterday. Do not tell the audience about your company offers, as it is customary in foreign social media; it does not work with the Russian social network audience. The market of enterprises’ accounts is full, and the audience goes only to the goods and services provider only if they are friends. Friendship is fun sharing and exchange of information, so Vk.com and Odnoklassniki.ru should not be used for self-promotion; it attracts no attention.
What can you do to engage your audience and keep it? Make friends with it and do not be intrusive with your suggestions! If you become friends with your client, he/she will come to you to purchase something. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? But everyone has probably heard about the "mysterious Russian soul", so why Russian social network must be different?
